"To tinker is to bravely embrace the unknown, being unafraid to learn by accepting challenges, creatively solving problems and tenaciously pursuing success; to not know how or why something works but to be curious and motivated to find out."

REAL TOOLS

Early Childhood educators are always amazed that we recommend using REAL tools with children as young as 2!  At the Childrens Center at Caltech, students ages two to six, learn the names of real tools, work with real tools, at a woodworking center. They construct bridges, rovers, stairs, & more!  Recently, their vegetable garden needed support for vines and growing plants. The Four Year old students engineered ways to support the plants and constructed what they needed. A dry bed creek crosses their campus and students wanted to construct a DaVinci bridge. Children have better understanding of geometry and the principles of architecture when they can construct their own knowledge by having 'hands on' building opportunities!
